Admission Process Begins at PAU, Multiple Courses Being Offered to Students
The admission process for the academic session 2018-19 has commenced at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). Various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are being offered by the University to the students seeking admission in various disciplines of agriculture, agricultural engineering, basic sciences and humanities, and home science. Admissions to various academic programmes will be done through entrance tests.
Among the undergraduate progarmmes, PAU is offering admission to B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture 4-year, B.Tech (Biotechnology) 4-year, B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture 6-year (at Institutes of Agriculture, Bathinda and Gurdaspur), B.Tech (Agricultural Engineering), B.Sc (Hons) Community Science 4-year and B.Sc (Hons) Nutrition and Dietetics 4-year.
Among the Masters’ programmes, University is offering admission to M.Sc in agricultural meteorology, agronomy, biotechnology, entomology, extension education, food technology, forestry, horticulture (floriculture and landscaping), horticulture (fruit science), horticulture (vegetable science), plant breeding and genetics, plant pathology and soil science. In addition, postgraduate programmes are being offered in the field of agricultural engineering in the discipline of civil engineering (hydrology and water resource engineering/structural engineering), computer science and engineering, farm machinery and power engineering, processing and food engineering, remote sensing and geographic information system, soil and water engineering and Computer Applications 3-year and 2-year lateral entry.
Apart from this, students can seek admission to Masters’ programmes in agricultural economics, business administration (agri-business), business administration, biochemistry, botany, chemistry, journalism and mass communication, microbiology, physics, sociology, statistics, zoology and 5-year integrated M.Sc (Hons) programme in biochemistry, botany, chemistry, microbiology and zoology.
In the field of home science, admission to M.Sc in apparel and textile science, family resource management, fashion designing, food and nutrition, extension education and communication management, human development and family studies is opened for the students. Several doctorate programmes are also being offered to the students.
For more details, students can purchase prospectus from the Centre for Communication and International Linkages, PAU, from9.00 am to 5.00 pm on working days as well as holidays. The students can also apply online by visiting the University website www.pau.edu. Last date for receipt of application forms of programmes having entrance test is May 11; with late fee (Rs 1,000/-), it is May 18.
For programmes without entrance test, last date for receipt of application forms is June 12; with late fee, it is June 19. For MCA 3-year and MCA (Lateral Entry) 2-year, last date for receipt of application forms is May 11; with late fee, it is June 15. For Ph.D programmes, students can submit applications by October 16; with late fee by October 23.
