PAU Adjudged Outstanding Institution of India by ICAR
The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has been adjudged as an outstanding institution of India and will be decorated with the prestigious “Sardar Patel Outstanding ICAR Institution Award 2017” by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) on July 16, 2018.
Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, will receive the award in New Delhi. It may be mentioned that the “Best State Agricultural University Award” has been given a new nomenclature as “Sardar Patel Outstanding ICAR Institution Award” by ICAR. The PAU is all set to receive this award again after 1995.
Congratulating the faculty and staff of PAU, Dr Dhillon said, “Your dedication, devotion and determination have enabled the University to emerge as an outstanding institution of the country.”
For this award, various parameters included education, research, extension education, awards and recognitions won by faculty, overall impact during last five years, management efficiency, institutional development programmes and major accomplishments.
Earlier also, PAU was ranked best (2017) among the Universities of Punjab by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development for its remarkable role in teaching, learning and research.
In addition, PAU was one of the only two agricultural institutes of the country which made it to the list of top 300 world universities in the ranking done by National Taiwan University in 2017. The University was also honoured by the Indian Society of Genetics and Plant Breeding (ISGPB) in 2017 for having highest number of landmark varieties to its credit among all the State Agricultural Universities and ICAR Institutes.
The University was ranked number one by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) - Indian Citation Index in 2017 for publication of research articles and citations. The University was also ranked number are by ICAR last year.
