Linking Technology to Farming for Attracting Youth
Hyderabad: Vice chancellors of agricultural universities from all over India have stressed on for attracting youth towards agriculture, the need for introducing technology and entrepreneurship in the agriculture sector .
Secretary of Indian Agricultural Universities Association (IAUA), Dr RP Singh said, “Since Agriculture is mostly dependent on monsoons and has to face uncertainty in our country, so it is difficult for youth to get into agriculture."
He noted that, the only way to make youth like agriculture is to introducing technology in agriculture and entrepreneurship skills be developed among the youth.
To brainstorm on further measures to be taken for attracting youth towards agriculture, ‘Youth and Smart Agriculture: Challenges and Opportunities’ conference is organized and Vice Chancellors of all the agricultural universities took part in that conference.
Several measures which Vice Chancellors of various agri-universities came up for attracting the youth to learn technology and take up agriculture sector are as popularising smart agriculture, supporting agriculture startups, developing entrepreneurship among agriculture students and farmers, pumping more investment into agriculture and allied sectors, etc.
