Innovative Farmer's Awards 2016 by PAU.
Ludhiana: Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has invited applications from the farmers of Punjab for the “Innovative Farmers’ Awards 2016. ” On the occasion of PAU Kisan Mela in September 2016, the awards will be presented to the innovative and progressive farmers.
Giving details, said, “S. Dalip Singh Dhaliwal Memorial Award” will be conferred on the self-cultivating farmer of field crops in the state of Punjab while “Parwasi Bharti Award” will be awarded to the self-cultivating farmer engaged in diversified farming system, said Dr R.S. Sidhu, Director of Extension Education while giving details about awards. Hw also told that, both the awards carry a cash prize of Rs 5000/- and Rs 8000/- respectively, along with plaques and citations.
Farmer who is the self-cultivating vegetable grower and who puts at least 60% area of his operational holding under vegetable crops in winter as well as summer seasons, then “S. Ujagar Singh Dhaliwal Memorial Award” will be presented to that farmer, said Dr Sidhu. This award carries a cash prize of Rs 3100/- along with a plaque and citation.
“S. Surjit Singh Dhillon Award” will be bestowed on the self-cultivating small farmer, having land up to five acres. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 5000/- along with a plaque and citation.
Elaborating, Dr Sidhu said “Sardarni Jagbir Kaur Grewal Memorial Innovative Woman Farmer Award” will be conferred on the farm woman involved in agriculture and allied agriculture enterprises in the state of Punjab. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 3100/- along with a plaque and citation, he added.
The application forms are available at the Deputy Directors (Training) of Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Directors of Regional Stations, District Extension Specialists (Senior Most), Chief Agriculture Officers, Deputy Directors of Horticulture in different districts of Punjab and PAU Directorate of Extension Education. The last date for the receipt of applications in the office of Director of Extension Education, PAU is July 15, 2016 and for each award, farmers have to fill a separate application.
