A four-day training programme, ‘Train the Trainer’ has started by Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, in collaboration with the Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI).

Dr Harish Kumar Verma, Director of Extension Education, said the training programme was designed to have a holistic training approach in the livestock and dairy farming to deliver services in field. He said Dr AS Nanda, Vice-Chancellor, the man behind this training programme, was of the view that it was a good extension approach to reach the farmers with scientific and updated knowledge.

Dr Verma said during the current scenario of agriculture where a stagnation phase has come, it is very important to diversify from the traditional practices. He emphasised that to get improved returns in the livestock sector, there is the dire need for having skilled manpower. It would reduce economic losses and increase output. He added that this time GADVASU had associated with the ASCI to produce skilled workers to support livestock farmers.
