28 February 2023 - Dr Shayla Bindra, Pulse Breeder, Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), was conferred with the “Award of Fellow” by the Indian Society of Pulses Research and Development (ISPRD) for the year 2023 for her significant contributions to pulses research and development during the recently concluded International Conference on “Pulses: Smart Crops for Agricultural Sustainability and Nutritional Security” held at NASC Complex, New Delhi from February 10-12, 2023. The event was organized by the Indian Society of Pulses Research and Development (ISPRD) along with the Indian Institute of Pulses Research (IIPR) and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to commemorate the auspicious occasion of World Pulses Day.
Dr Bindra was also awarded the “Best Poster Presentation” for her work entitled, “Mapping of genes for efficient Chickpea-rhizobia symbiosis using inter-specific population of Cicer” under the theme of Mendelian Breeding for Crop Resilience.
Mr Kuppuraj J, a Ph.D. scholar working under the guidance of Dr Asmita Sirari, Plant Pathologist (Pulses), PAU, bagged the “Best Poster Presentation Award” entitled “Designing, validating and expression analysis of different R protein domains in compatible and incompatible Vigna - MYMIV interactions" under the theme of Modern Tools for Crop Improvement during this conference.
