New five horticulture polytechnics in Andhra Pradesh
Eluru: According to Horticulture Commissioner Chiranjeevi Chowdary, Government has given permission to set up five horticulture polytechnics and three private horticulture colleges in the State.
Chiranjeevi Chowdary, Vice-Chancellor of YSR Horticultural University, highlighted the growth achieved by it in the last one decade. A placement cell was set up in the university to ensure that horticulture graduates get good jobs.
Under the protective crop cultivation programme, the university set up a Centre for Excellence at Chintapalli in Visakhapatnam district.
The university stood 26th at the all India level among the 57 agriculture varsities according the rankings given by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR).
